Need a little bit of help.

I am working on an on going project. The project is to build a long ranger rfid reader for pen testing purpose. I have a few problems though.



1. Most readers on have a range of a few inches if that and I need it to have a range of about 15-35 ft.



2. It must be able to be concealed in a backpack.



3. It must be completely portable.



After many hours of research I came across this video but I am not sure how to use a router as a rfid range extender, as this gentleman did.
